Vintage 1960s Italian Shoe Rack Cabinet, Dark Brown Lacquer Mid Century

This mid century 1960s shoe rack / cabinet is a super rare and special piece.

It has sinuous and tactile curves and three spring-loaded compartments for storing shoes etc

Though this cabinet has no branding this design is attributed to Carlo di Carli who designed this piece for Italian brand Fiarm.

Made from lacquered wood the cabinet is in very good condition for it's age; there are some light surface scratches to the lacquered finish and on the top left hand side you can see some light cracks to the finish - though the piece is perfectly sound. Please note in the photos where some knocks and bumps show it's fine vintage. 

The three compartments open and close with the spring-loaded mechanism, in assuming the top compartment was perhaps used more as this stays open for longer (whereas the bottom two close more quickly). Within the back panel there is a small cut out section which we assume was to allow for a plug socket.

The cabinet measures;

 - height 108.5cm

 - width 71.5cm

 - depth when closed 27cm

 - depth when compartments are opened 48cm

 - each opening compartment is divided into three sections each measuring 22cm across, and 31cm deep

 - each compartment also has an inner shelf measuring 11.5cm deep and 67cm across
