PP 550 Peacock Chair, Timber Frame, Paper-cord Upholstery

Originally designed by Hans J. Wegner, the JH-550 / PP-550 Peacock chair was made for Johannes Hansen in Denmark from 1947 onwards.

This Peacock chair is excellent condition, with only a few small signs of wear, it is a modern reproduction - there is no branding but there are a handful of possible makers we've been able to find.
(The seat on this chair is made from one piece of timber, as opposed to several layers of ply laminated together of the original.)

Inspired by a traditional English Windsor chair, Hans J. Wegner is quoted as saying... "The goal is to express something in wood that is natural for the wood - to discover what is right, carpentry-wise. Look at the Windsor chair, a simple construction, something the people of England were able to make 200 years ago. But it is also a distinctive design, precisely because it expresses what it is so naturally."
