Sign of the Times - for your Gallery Walls

Sign of the Times - for your Gallery Walls

Over the years, we've curated a bit of a gallery wall in our hallway at home. It has framed posters of exhibitions we've seen, photographs of places visited when travelling around the world oh so many years ago, and maps.
We love a map - be it a world map with Australia in the middle (bought unsurprisingly, in Australia), or an old tube map with stations long since closed.
We've also got and a couple of framed luggage labels from places we stayed when our now-teenagers were then-titchy.
.
Framed vintage luggage labels, (that date back to the late 19th Century to the 1950-60s) were part of a very, very early inception of a business that has now become Curious Mr Smith - I made hundreds, literally, for a local interiors shop.
A blend of typography, a railway influence and map/place name.
We've got a few ready-to-frame luggage labels on the website here, and for those fortunate to go to Glastonbury this year, (oh to have be there) we've got this framed original Vintage Glastonbury luggage label**

Trains and railways are within the DNA of my family and upbringing; Teenager #2 has it deep within him too. The same DNA is within The French Agent, he finds curious things on his travels on my behalf, and brings back a haul every now and then.

This French SNCF '70' speed limit sign is completely stunning. Printed onto hardboard, and from having been outside the elements, nature have given it the most glorious of patinas and a painterly like quality.
It measures approx 83cm x 83cm.

Buying pre-loved we know is an excellent way to reduce waste and landfill, as is using public transport and cycling to reduce our carbon footprint... we must revere the cyclists who brave the roads these days (the crazies who ride the Lime bikes like loons, less so, too terrifying).
However, this framed picture of John Player Cigarette cards showing cyclists and bikes of years gone by could make an excellent gift for your favourite Lycra-clad cyclist.

This Dutch INGANG sign would make a great addition to any entrance way or porch. Ingang translates to entry, entrance, door or portal... Super cool and welcoming - it measures approx 71x 21cm.

As a final tease... these signs are coming soon, they will be illuminated and add some wow-factor to a kitchen or dining room. Drop us a line here, if you'd like to be the first to know when they are listed!

About the ** for the Glastonbury framed label above... as mentioned over several years I sold many, many framed luggage labels.
Then one day I found the Glastonbury framed label, above, in a local charity shop, so I bought it back, slightly amused (& possibly slightly indignant), but loved that also now someone can give it a third life, it's pre-loved to the core.

I still have many many unmounted luggage labels left in my repertoire, do message if there are any destinations you're after and in the meantime I'll figure out how to list them all for easier selection!
