Chairs that are Plastic, and Fantastic

Chairs that are Plastic, and Fantastic

Some of our fellow pre-loved-furniture-sellers niche down into areas that appeal to them, their aesthetic or what sells well for them, and they do it very well.
Curious Mr Smith has evolved into more of a broad church when it comes to furniture & home accessories; it wasn't necessarily by design, more circumstance.
We love the old, we love the new, and we love the middle bit too.

An early working name for what became Curious Mr Smith was Cool Stuff. Which doesn't have quite the same ring, but does indeed say what it does on the tin, because at the beginning of this venture we were just finding #coolstuff.

.

The very definition of cool is of course subjective and like beauty in the eye of the beholder. However, we do believe the following chairs are cool, and fantastic, also... plastic (or polycarbonate, if you will).

.

Meet Pam, or a pair of Pam's...
By French brand Ligne Roset, this pair of adjustable height, 360 degree swivel bar stools with shaped pale orange clear plastic seats are quite fabulous, their colour isn't overpowering, but just, rather joyfully, there.

-----

This is Tina - designed in 1979 by Arik Levy, and made in Italy. (We're not sure the date when this chair was made, possibly 2004ish...) she's smallish, but perfectly formed and would make a great desk or occasional chair, she swivels too.

-----

These are the Revolts. Designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend, in high white gloss, these had been discontinued, but were reintroduced in 2004. A classic design with lasting appeal... we were also nearly able to offer them another moment of glory when they were recently called in, but sadly not used, for a Prada photoshoot. Maybe next time.

-----

And whilst there appears to be a bit of a Blind Date theme happening - please let's meet Hal, and Hal - designed by Jasper Morrison for Vitra.
Beautifully sinuous and flowing, the seats are super comfy, the wooden legs add a warmth and grounding to the modern look too.

-----

Finally, in our Plastic Fantastic line up, meet Eros. Designed by Philippe Starck & Kartell - this chair is from 1999. Though with delicate looking legs, it's sturdy and comfy - making an excellent accent or desk chair.

-----

As ever, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions, and know that you are always very welcome to view any items in our storage unit in North London to help decide.
Stay cool.
Curiously yours, Simon
