Metal & Industrial Style Furniture doesn't have to be cold

Was is watching John Hughes films back in the day that gave us the desire for New York lofts with warehouse / industrial vibes and open plan living?
(Oh the joy of reaching a certain age when you then think about heating such a place - it would cost how much?!?)

Whilst we still love exposed brick walls and metal beams - the contrast of warmth, comfort and practicality now wins out. Cool will only take you so far. In all senses of the word.

Metal & Industrial style furniture doesn't have to be cold; plants, books and even the odd cushion or two softens the harder edges. Colour within the pieces you choose to add to your space can also brings a lightness and a sense of playfulness too.
____

Tubular metal stacking chairs are regulars for us to stock - hard wearing, practical, comfortable and still so classically right.

_____

These Hille stacking chairs are a bit special - not only the glorious colour - but the fact they have arms. The tubular metal legs have been re-sprayed black and new feet added.

_____

In our household we're big fans of anything train related. Bringing in an industrial feel this aluminium luggage rack used on D-Stock trains on the Metropolitan line adds a nostalgic touch too. So cool, so useful to have in the bathroom even for towels?

_____

Anything to try to prevent coats/bags/hats landing on the hallway floor (or bathroom/anywhere) - industrial style metal hooks - substantial, hard wearing and no nonsense.

_____

Stacking Ply & Tubular Metal Stools - again with tubular metal legs, practical, easy to store, sturdy and comfortable.

____

This three tier trolley with removable Bakelite trays is utilitarian in the best possible way - whether used as a drinks trolley (always a win), or as open storage in a kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.

_____

Finally, to add to va va voom and joyful colour - we've this magnificent Atomic/Sputnik tubular metal coat hook by Roger Feraud.

Curious Mr Smith is about finding the old, making it beautiful and relevant again and presenting it so you can see how it can fit in, and add something useful (generally) to your space.
We are always scouting, tracking down and acquiring new pieces - if they talk to us, we're pretty sure that they will talk to you as well. Do consider signing up to receive our newsletters (here) to hear when new curiosities land - and we'll ping you a special code to get 10% off your first order!
